From what I heard it didn't go down that way.  I am just glad the kid is going to ok, poor little guy is probably seriously traumatized though!

Fill us in Red!

I really don't know much more than that.  I don't know anyone involved, saw the kid at school with the bandage on his head, and other than that just heard the neighborhood gossip.  My son's friend was in the area when it happened, but I don't know how much she really saw or understood.

I would really love to know if the dog was released back to the owners.  While I am not placing any sort of blame on them because their dog did something (I think they are all probably capable, even my two sweet angels), I don't feel comfortable with anyone walking a dog around our neighborhood that has a history of attacking.  You can bet my kids got a refresher of the whole "don't touch dogs you don't know" speech.

no i wasn't kidding. i mean its a dog. they have teeth. they bite.

i mean if I have a shark, or a snake, or a parrot... anything with teeth, beaks, talons, fangs, etc.... could be having a bad day.

and guess what.......

they'll bite or snip or chop or whatever.

you know.... nature? anyone watch Discovery Channel? when lions eat? and hunt?

 :D

agree...you should never put 100% faith in your dog around a child....Dogs do have bad days too and need their space sometimes.

Only problem is this:

 - when people have a bad day, they bitch a bit and drink a beer.
 - when cats have a bad day, they poop out of their box and find a high spot to hide.
 - when the guppies have a bad day, they float.
 - BUT when vicious dogs have a bad day, they attack, bite and maim!

I have known and witnessed way too many people who have been attacked by a dog without provocation. And YES I do believe there are certain breeds predisposed to unprovoked attacks without warning. I continue to warn my girls never to approach an unfamiliar dog, even when accompanied by its owner. And I continue to steer clear of certain kinds of dogs NO MATTER WHAT.

I hear the toy poodle is one of the worst for unwarranted provocation.
