« on: April 10, 2009, 05:23:29 PM »
has anyone else noticed a discoloration in their water??  i just ran a tub for my daughter and after it filled i noticed it was a little on the brown side.  i know the water always has a slimy feel to it that im still getting used to, but what  could cause the brown??

We had that happen to us about a year ago.  It was nasty..but did go away after a few days.  I have no idea what causes it.  When we first moved here, I noticed how the bath water felt slimey too.  I think it's because Anna has soft water.  Took a long time to get used to...now I don't even notice it.

The city had to shut everyone's water off one day this week from a busted main.  I noticed the discoloration for a day or so afterward.  Maybe it is just getting to your neighborhood.

We are in The Falls too, so I am certain that is what it is.  My husband and I were both home when it happened.  ;)

ok not to sound like a broken record with the water thing, but were they doing something with the water lines again today?  i just got home after being gone all day and our toilets are full of mud water, and they sound like they might take off when we flush... anyone know anything?  im gonna check the citys website

I am pretty sure that there was a water main break today that might have affected your water.

Yes, the water was cut off today for about an hour.  There was a water break behind Loves.  I am in the Falls.  We had to run all of the water for a bit to get it clear.
I am not sure why the water would be discolored, it is only in certain rooms, but just doesn't seem right.

It wasn't a break in the line. They installed a fire hydrant by Loves. I wish when they do this they would let us know.

It isn't a continuing problem from before.  Yesterday the water was off for about an hour in The Falls.

Apparently they opened a hydrant in our hood to bleed the lines, but we also had sediment in every faucet when it came back on so we had to turn all of them on in the house before drawing baths and such last night.

Yes, a notice on the website or something would have been helpful!  I had someone over at the house (I'm in the Falls) yesterday, and she told me that the water was off.  Of course, the first thing I thought of was - did I pay the water bill?   ???  How embarassing!  I checked my account online, and I did pay it, so I called the Water Department.  Sure enough - the woman who answered told me that there was a water main break and that the water would be on in 20-30 minutes.
You shouldn't say mean things about people who can't read.  You should write it instead.

Ha!  My water WAS turned off---despite the fact that I NEVER received a bill NOR a late notice...
