TOTALLY HATE the pool
« on: June 15, 2010, 09:16:27 PM »
It has always been a problem, but tonight I took the boy to the pool - and had to kick out 8 kids who were too young to be there without adult supervision. So, good right? Then, a family showed up and asked us to open the gate. "Not without your own key, sorry!" So, instead they throw a child over the fence and open the gate. Great. No key. So, I ask how they got in and the Dad says "threw a kid over the fence" Great. I tell him he has to have a key and that is not okay and I get a bunch of excuses. This is unacceptable. And he asks me if I am the pool police, and I said "YEP, I am a HOA paying homeowner are you?"

Then, he instructs another child to let another family in through the gate who also does not have a key. I even called the non-emergency response number in Anna to have them ejected because there was a potential for an altercation. They can't do anything. Any ideas from someone who actually possesses a POOL KEY? We are so screwed.

I don't want to spend any time at this pool over the last 5 years because is is always such a PROBLEM.  :-[

Its been my experience that mostly, people suck.  Not like, normal people - just the assholes.  And they like, reproduce or something, and make little assholes.  So yeah, its a real problem and I'm sorry you have to go through that, because really no one deserves it.  Except the assholes.

Thankful for the membership at Lifetime in Allen, or I swear I would totally lose my shit. I thought this pool would be awesome, but instead it is a nightmare. It is a nightmare of idiots.

And totally when the guy was like "well I forgot my pool card" and then told my husband "well we are tired of paying $50 for our 4 missing pool cards. Seriously, if we intend on maintaining the inclusiveness of our pool, and people who have ACTUALLY paid HOA dues, um....

We're done. It's sad. Rock On.

It really cannot get to this point without some kind of community support. This is going to be a continuing problem.

I am SO happy for Oak Hollow.  ;D

It will probably push more people to The Falls and West Crossing pools that shouldn't be there, though. And we'll have more problems this year.

I think the point was...   why don't you suggest to your HOA that they hire a guard and adopt the wrist band system?  It seems to be working well.  No card, no band, get out!

Because so many people are not paying their HOA dues and the expenses from fixing our pond this year - I don't think our HOA has the money to pay for this service. It would be nice, though, and I am happy for Oak Hollow to be able to do this on the weekends.  :)

Yeah, I'm not so sure our mgmt company had the funds either...  guess we'll find out at the next meeting.  :)

That happened to me when I was at my pool last summer in Oak Hollow. Two teenagers were let in and didn't have bands or a card. When I asked to see them they said they were waiting for thier friend who lived in Oak Hollow. I told them they needed to wait outside the gated area and they refused. I called the police non-emergency number and reported them as trespassing. An officer came out and explained to them that they were there illegally and he made them leave the pool area. They waited outside in the parking lot until the officer left and then they high tailed it.

I also hate the idea of the pool being used by those that aren't paying members of our HOA, but I personally know one of the families involved in the other night's incident and have heard their side too.  She made a very valid point that has got be me thinking...

Her dues are paid but they lost their pool card.  Her huband had lost his job and they really don't have the extra $50 laying around to pay for a replacement key.  Seeing how the management company pays approximately $4 for each key, and they can deactivate the missing key, I think the $50 is a bit steep.  What I would like tpo know is WHO gets the other $46?  The management company or our HOA?  If I knew the HOA was receiving this surplus I would be a little less resentful of the high cost, one that I recently had to pay when my key was stolen out of my pool bag AT THE POOL...

I am sarcastic and have a smart ass attitude.  It's a natural defense against drama, bullshit, and stupidity...

I agree they should not charge so much for the keys. I suppose they have to charge some amount for the time it requires to activate/de-activate, but not $46 worth. And the key system is necessary, although not all that effective, when people just break in anyway.

The problem with the pool key situation at the pool is that if you "get involved" you lose, and if you ignore it you lose. It just becomes one big lose/lose proposition.

As you know, it's like this every year. I don't know why I expect anything to ever be different. LOL

I would honestly like to see what a guard would run us.  It may be worth a $25 increase in HOA dues each year to not have to deal with the bs...
