Watch out for the rattlesnakes
« on: March 07, 2009, 04:57:23 PM »
Ok I had a baby diamondback rattlesnake on my back porch today. Since my husband is gone training with the army, I tried to call animal control, but they were CLOSED. So I called the cops, and 2 very nice ones came out and killed it for me. It main thing that freaks me out is since it was a baby (about a foot long) it's momma has to be nearby. I've lived here four years and this is the first snake I have seen, surprisingly. I have seen lots of other horrible things, but man! Why does the first snake I see have to be a poisonous one?!!!!

I have to ask, as I am terrified of snakes.  Do you back up to the greenbelt?   (please say yes!)

Not the greenbelt, but the huge cornfield, which they just mowed a few days ago. I guess that disturbed a nest or den or whatever they are called. The snake was pretty aggressive and standing it's ground even though it was small. Just wanted to warn my neighbors!!!

I've seen all kinds of animals over by the entrance, including 2 rattle snakes (2 different times).
My husband tried to kill one of them, but it was too big and it was too scary.  Eventually it went back into the grass.
I've also seen a turtle.  It was crossing the street.  We went to Brookshire's really quick and it has just made across the steet when we came back.
My kids thought it was really funny.  But rattle snakes are not!  And you're right, with it being a baby, I wonder how many more are there.

Be carefulll!!

I have seen some coyotes in the Falls and black widow spiders EVERYWHERE, rats and mice, possums, and a tarantula! But never any snakes before last weekend. I was waiting for that to happen though. Please watch your kids! The little boys in the neighborhood seem particularly fascinated with them!!! I haven't seen anymore since, so I hope that one was a "loner"!

If you lived on the greenbelt you would have probably already witnessed the Bobcat too.  ;)  We have invaded their space, so I can't complain to much, but I DO NOT like the snakes...

You are right there, that was a horrible movie.

Think Samuel regrets it?

As hard as it is to imagine, I think Snakes on a Plane may have been the absolute worst movie he ever did...

CAB, I didn't watch it on my own free will, this is the kind of crap ~j makes me watch.  I retaliate with Grease, Dirty Dancing, and (the ultimate killer) Gone with the Wind.

Its a luxury I rarely indulge in.  But when I do, I'm good.  I'm real good.
